Ayuda sa Amsterdam Heroes: Jam & Martin

Jam and Martin lives in Amsterdam for 7 years. Jam grew up in Quezon and Martin is from Pangasinan. They’re married and have a beautiful young daughter.

They both decided to come to Europe to earn a living and help support their family back home in The Philippines.

Their volunteerism began when Jam distributed free facemasks to people in need when Covid first started. This got the ball rolling in their activism work and felt motivated to help others and that’s how they found the Ayuda. They’re both dedicated in supporting the community and it brings them a lot of joy.

“Dealing with different type of people isn’t always easy but they always put a smile on their faces. Hearing their stories and knowing what they are going through is not also easy. Sometimes the weather is unpredictable and we’ve been caught in the rain…. but the ayuda must go on!”

Jam and Martin feel super bless to be part of the program and meet new people.
Their positivity, their bright outlook on life and their desire to help others is inspirational:
Jam believes that “everything has its own purpose and God is always in control, but what is important is our response. Our purpose will not work on its own, it is up to us to do our part”.
Martin has two motto to life “Death is certain, so we need to do good while we are alive” and “Eat first, pay later”.

“Everything has its own purpose and God is always in control, but what is important is our response. Our purpose will not work on its own, it is up to us to do our part”.
