Trans Health Talk

The Harm of Self-Medication

Transgender people are faced with physical, mental and emotional challenges when they decide to start to transition. During the pandemic, we found out that many of our transgender siblings are resulting to self-medication due to lack of access to health care professionals, without realising the danger of it.

The goal of this talk is to empower, educate and provide support and assistance, specially to those who do not have access to health care professionals.

What does Transgender mean?

Transgender is a term used to describe people whose gender identity differs from the sex they were assigned at birth. Gender identity is a person’s internal, personal sense of being a man or a woman (or boy or girl.) For some people, their gender identity does not fit neatly into those two choices. For transgender people, the sex they were assigned at birth and their own internal gender identity do not match.

At least 50 trans people have been killed in the Philippines since 2010. Many were unidentified.

Filipino LGBT Europe calls the community to REMEMBER our Queersiblings fallen due to HATE crimes.
