Halalan 2022
This election season, let us keep in mind the plight and welfare of the members of the LGBTQIA+ community who often do not feel a sense of belongingness and security in our country.
Together, we can create a safer and more inclusive Philippines for LGBTQIA+ individuals, as well as all those in the margins.
#SOGIEForward an Election Video Campaign
A mini documentary series made by Filipino LGBT Europe in partnership with The Royal Embassy of The Netherlands, Commission on Human Rights of the Philippines, Mujer-LGBT Organization Incorporated, ASEAN SOGIE Caucus, and The Red Whistle.
Kaye. Babae. Filipino. Lumalaban.
Life is both trial and celebration. Come and listen to Filipino transgender woman Kaye, and her journey to find a place to belong in, to be treated equally, to be herself.
See the world through the eyes of a woman fighting for her place in the world.
Everyone deserves to be seen, to be heard, to be accepted.
Watch Amay’s journey from living in the shadows to basking in the light of societal acceptance. She dreams that the same light will shine on her LGBTQIA siblings in the Philippines. As she pushes for #SOGIEForward.
“You’re just a person here. There is no weight on your shoulders.”
Godwin, gay and Filipino migrant in The Netherlands, points to the lack of LGBTQ role models growing up that made his journey of self-acceptance and self-discovery challenging.
He hopes that recognition and acceptance of people as “just people” would play bigger roles in the Philippine educational system. He pushes #SOGIEForward
“SOGIE is not privilege.”
Chris, Chairperson of Filipino LGBT Europe, fights for the equal legal protection of the LGBTQIA+ community in the Philippines through partnerships with local and International organizations. He believes that the first step to end the suffering of the Filipino LGBTQIA+ is the passage of the SOGIE bill, as it will afford them the legal assurance that they can no longer be discriminated against because of their sexual identities.
This mini-documentary series was initially released on November 2021 by the Commission on Human Rights of the Philippines and can also be viewed via this link: https://www.facebook.com/watch/784522714997609/623787638756894
